About Me

samantha johnson

I HAVE ALWAYS GRAVITATED...

towards soccer; my mother says it was the first sports ball I ever picked up. As a kid, I was interested in both gymnastics and soccer, but over time became determined and passionate about just soccer. This dedication netted me a full scholarship to the University of Southern California where I had an all-star career.

My passion and perseverance earned me a roster spot in the National Women’s Soccer League playing Center-Back for the Chicago Red Stars. In the 2014 off-season, I received my first pro overseas contract to Sydney where I tallied two assists in my first two games. Upon my return to the league in the 2015 season, I played in 14 games with 13 starts while helping my team finish second in the league, the highest finish in club history. This accession yielded me several opportunities to showcase my talent and versatility off the field; in print and on screen, directly strengthening and widening my global brand.

As I continue to grow in my current position with the Chicago Red Stars, my goals intensify. My current platform is a vehicle for me to bring global awareness of the National Women’s Soccer League, to establish the club and its players as more than just the Olympic team, and to empower and embolden young women to actualize their goals. I found my spark, the magical combination that pushes me to achieve more and the confidence to portray it in the media. Now, I aspire to share myself and my goals with the world.
